Although it may sound like a paradox, to see how streets of Tokyo looked like in Edo Period (1603-1868) you need to leave Tokyo and travel to Kawagoe. This nice city is called the Little Edo and its’ old district preserved the atmosphere of old streets of Tokyo. Its’ main street is lined with black Kurazukuri (clay-walled warehouse-styled) buildings.
We will see how they are made, what makes them different from other traditional buildings. We will also dive into the narrow streets, where we will see the candy street and an old candy shop, enjoy the view of Toki-no-Kane Time Bell tower.
You can ask your questions during the tour and also in the end we will have a Q&A time.
*It is a NOT a real tour, but pre recorded tour with live explanation by the guide.
Highlights
* Learn about Kawagoe city and the history of trading in Edo Period (1603-1868)
* You can ask your questions “why” and “how” about Japan and its’ culture.

Guide Profile
Hi, my name is Dinara, I have been living in Japan for 16 years and travelled around all 47 prefectures. My favorite question in all of my trips is "why", as I always try to find the reasons and histories laying behind everything, and I would be glad to share what I have found so far. I love all periods of history of Japan, but the most fascinated ones for me are Edo period (1603-1868) and Meiji era (1868-1912) since this two have the keys to most of the unique and interesting things of modern Japan
