Nagatoro is a small but scenic town deep in the mountains to the west of Tokyo. It is a very popular spot for hiking, river boat tours and other activities like rafting or kayaking. In our tour we invite you to learn about the history of this place and its’ legends, see its’ power spots, enjoy the magnificent view from the mountain top, and learn about the first Japan’s coins minted in 708 from copper that was found in these mountains.
We will also make a short boat ride and you can enjoy the view of the gorgeous valley that is a natural monument while the boat is cruising down powerful rapids and gentle currents.
We will also talk a little bit about local food and the best places to try it.

Hi, my name is Dinara, I have been living in Japan for 16 years and travelled around all 47 prefectures. My favorite question in all of my trips is "why", as I always try to find the reasons and histories laying behind everything, and I would be glad to share what I have found so far. I love all periods of history of Japan, but the most fascinated ones for me are Edo period (1603-1868) and Meiji era (1868-1912) since this two have the keys to most of the unique and interesting things of modern Japan
